Treaty of Vienna-1815--
- After the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte in the battle of Waterloo in 1814 , the conservatives believed that established, the traditional institutes of state and society- like the Monarchy ,the Church,the Social Hierarchy,property and family should be preserved.Most conservatives however wanted to restore Monarchy a modern army and efficient bureaucracy , a dynamic economy ,the abolition of Feudalism and serfdom could strengthen Autocratic Monarchy of Europe.
- In 1815,representatives of European powers( Britain ,Russia,Persia and Austria) who collectively defeated Napoleon Bonaparte, meet at Vienna to draw up settlement for Europe.
- It was hoisted by Austrian Chancellor Duke Metternich .
CHANGES:
- Bourbon family was brought back to power.
- France lost its territory annexed by Napoleon Bonaparte.
- Boundaries were redistributed among different European states.
- But configuration of 39 states were kept untouched.
- Main motto was to restore Monarchy back to power to get a new conservative Europe.
- Imposed censorship on newspapers and books.
